Remember when I wrote this?
I meant it. I meant every word.
But over our holiday break we had some good family time and great conversation. Yesterday I was bragging to my sister how awesome Abbey’s teachers at OPRF – her high school- were. So many good ones, but I really appreciate her math teacher.
First- I’ve been out of the helping with math homework for years. Thank you GOD for humans who love, understand and teach mathematics.
Second- Abbey’s teacher loves her job. She loves her students and it shows. I told my sister about the story she shared with us on back to school night about how being the daughter of Muslim refugees shaped her. How her teachers were a source of strength for her and a place of inspiration. She loves math, but she also loves what she does. Her teaching influence goes way beyond numbers.
She also believes in giving thanks.
So, on the day before Thanksgiving a required part of her class was for them to send an email or text of thanks to their parent or guardian.
Remember how excited I was about that text telling me I was awesome?
Here’s my amendment to the last post- THANK YOU FOR THOSE TEACHERS WHO REMIND OUR CHILDREN THAT THEIR PARENTS ARE AWESOME. I PROMISE YOU, WE HAVE YOUR BACKS.
Giving Thanks on this holiday, and always.
